Joseph Fox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Sponsor: State of Maryland International Reading Association Council 

          The Joseph Fox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to graduates of any Maryland high school and one college/university graduate student majoring in reading or a reading-related field.  Recipients of this scholarship must attend accredited educational institutions of their choice and pursue a curriculum that will prepare them for teaching as well as meet the specific criteria for each scholarship.

          This scholarship is for the amount of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00).  SELECTED RECIPIENTS WILL RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP UPON PRESENTATION OF A COPY OF A COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY BILL. 

Undergraduate Scholarship Criteria

  1. Must verify graduation from a Maryland high school.
  2. Must be accepted and enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university
  3. Must major in Education with the intent to pursue teaching as a career
  4. Must have maintained a GPA of 3.2 or better in high school
  5. Must document current or previous community service in education-related activities or organizations/clubs, etc.
  6. Must submit a completed application by scholarship deadline, following the enclosed rubric...
